Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. appointed Peter Cooper as Assistant Director of ETP in May of 2012. Mr. Cooper oversees external affairs and advises the Executive Director on workforce policy and issues. He also provides leadership on apprenticeship and environmental training policy. Prior to coming to ETP, he served as a senior program manager and legislative advocate for the California Labor Federation from 2000 to 2012, working primarily on low-wage worker issues, environmental policy and workforce development. From 1992 to 2000 he worked for the AFL-CIO in Washington, DC, and for the Service Employees International Union. He has also worked for the California Department of Water Resources on agricultural economic forecasting.
Mr. Cooper received a Master of Arts degree from CSU Sacramento in International Economic Affairs, studied at the Eberhard-Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany and speaks fluent German. As an undergraduate at CSU Chico, he earned degrees in International Relations and Economics.
